Parliament Clarifies “No Vacancy” Notice for 2026/2027 National Service Personnel

Parliament has clarified its ‘no vacancies for National Service personnel’ notice after it generated public commentary on social media.

The notice displayed on its notice board states, “No Vacancy for National Service Personnel 2026/2027. Kindly go for reposting.”

In a statement issued on October 5, 2026 and signed by the Director of Media Relations, David Sebastian Damoah, the Parliamentary Service said the notice has been misconstrued.

According to the statement, the notice was not a policy statement, a freeze on national service placements, or a reflection of any change in Parliament’s support for the National Service Scheme.

“The notice was a routine administrative message addressed to prospective personnel who reported to Parliament. Its sole purpose was to inform them that Parliament has received more personnel than the number it can accommodate for the 2026/2027 service year, and that they should seek reposting to other institutions,” the statement explained.

Parliament said it remains committed to the National Service Scheme and values the contribution of service personnel to its work.

It further expressed regret over any confusion or inconvenience the wording of the notice may have caused.
