NLA Pays First Dividend in 8 Years as Finance Minister Vows Revenue Overhaul

The National Lottery Authority has paid a GH¢10 million dividend to the Government, the Ministry of Finance has announced.

The payment is the first since 2017.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson described the payment as “a welcome step, but it must not be symbolic,” insisting the Ghanaian taxpayer deserves more.

Dr Forson revealed he is working with the Attorney-General to complete, within this month, a full review of all NLA revenue-sharing agreements.

He intends to review agreements he says have unreasonably ceded state revenue to private entities.

“The NLA must focus on its core mandate and deliver full value to the people. Ghana has lost enough. I will ensure that every pesewa due to the State from the NLA is paid,” he stated.
