GES Processes Over 35,000 Promotion Documents Ahead of Deadline — PRO

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has processed over 35,000 teacher promotion documents ahead of the Monday, October 5, 2026 deadline.

The Public Relations Officer of the Service, Mr Daniel Fenyi, who confirmed this, said the Service will finish processing all documents by the deadline.

“I can confirm to all staff of the GES that the GES has processed over 35,000 teacher promotion documents ahead of the Monday [5th October, 2026] deadline. We will finish all documents by the deadline,” he stated.

According to him, teachers who applied for Director I and Director II ranks have already received text messages to, among others, select their preferred venue for the aptitude test.

He noted that about 800 of the applicants provided wrong or unreachable contact details.

“Therefore, if an applicant has not received a text message yet, they may want to reach out to the HR HQ, perhaps via the district/regional HR,” Mr Fenyi added.

He further disclosed that this year, 4,405 teachers are expected to be placed on the Director II rank, representing a 1,500% increase from the existing number of 272.

“We also expect 88 staff to be put on the Director I rank, a 340% increase from the existing number of 20,” he said.

Mr Fenyi assured that promotion for staff in the lower ranks is also receiving attention and is currently in process.

This comes as teachers have declared an industrial action over the government’s failure to place qualified teachers in their new ranks and salaries.
