Deputy Attorney-General Reveals Reason Behind Manhyia South MP’s Arrest Warrant

The Deputy Attorney-General, Justice Srem Sai, says the issuance of an arrest warrant for the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South Constituency, Agyei Baffour Awuah, relates to alleged financial crimes at SIC Life Savings and Loans Company Limited.
According to him, the warrant became necessary after the lawmaker refused to honour an invitation by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) since February 2026.
The Deputy Attorney-General, confirming the arrest warrant, said the MP’s invitation was in connection with an inquiry into unauthorised financial transactions resulting in financial loss, dissipation of public funds and money laundering, among others.
“I can confirm that the High Court has issued a warrant for the arrest of Mr AGYEI BAFFOUR AWUAH (Hon. MP), who has, since February 2026, refused to honour an EOCO criminal investigative invitation,” he stated.
He said Mr Awuah’s imminent arrest forms part of the ongoing EOCO investigations into the complaint filed against the management of SIC Life Savings & Loans Company Ltd.
The High Court in Accra issued the arrest warrant on September 30, 2026, following a failed attempt to arrest him last week.
