Israel Seeks To Establish Manufacturing Facility In Ghana
Israel has expressed interest in establishing a manufacturing facility in Ghana to deepen bilateral defence cooperation, create employment and strengthen local capacity.
The disclosure was made by the Ambassador of Israel to Ghana, H.E. Roey Gilad, when he led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Minister for Defence, Hon. Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, in Accra.
The visit was to reaffirm the longstanding diplomatic relations between Ghana and Israel and their shared commitment to peace, security and sustainable development.
During the meeting, Ambassador Gilad commended Ghana for its contributions to international peacekeeping, particularly the professionalism and dedication of Ghanaian personnel serving under the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
He said that as the UNIFIL mandate draws to a close this year, Ghana’s leadership and sacrifices in southern Lebanon are deeply valued by Israel and the international community.
Ambassador Gilad reiterated Israel’s commitment to expanding bilateral relations and working closely with Ghana to address emerging and evolving security challenges, noting that the proposed manufacturing facility would advance collaboration in the defence sector.
On his part, Hon. Adjei acknowledged the warm and longstanding relationship between the two countries and expressed confidence in prospects for further strengthening the partnership.
He emphasised the importance of strategic cooperation in knowledge sharing, personnel training and institutional capacity-building as essential to addressing contemporary security threats.
The Minister also called for enhanced collaboration in surveillance systems, cyber defence and advanced technologies, identifying joint ventures, technical innovation and collaborative research as key avenues for modernising Ghana’s defence architecture while supporting national development.
He reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to constructive engagement with Israel in pursuit of cooperation that promotes mutual interests and strengthens national security.
