Pray For My Presidency Vision – Bawumia Urges Asantehemaa

The 2028 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has appealed to the Queen of the Asante Kingdom, Nana Yaa Akyaa II, to remember his presidential ambition in her prayers.
Dr Bawumia made the appeal during a courtesy visit to the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Wednesday, September 17, 2026, where he formally informed the Asantehemaa of his mandate to lead the party into the next general election.
“Asanteman and the NPP have entrusted me with the flagbearer mandate for the 2028 elections. I would like to become the President of Ghana. Please remember me in your daily prayers,” he said.
Congratulating Her Majesty on her ascension, Dr Bawumia described her appointment as divine.
“God put you in this seat. You are blessed, and I pray that God will preserve you, give you long life and good health,” he stated.
In response, the Asantehemaa expressed appreciation for the visit and assured him of her prayerful support.
“I will support you with prayers to guide your endeavours,” she said.
Dr Bawumia was accompanied by over 30 Members of Parliament, executives of the NPP, founding members of the party, former Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), and party supporters.
Notable among them were former Suame MP, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu; Bantama MP, Francis Asenso-Boakye; Deputy Minority Leader, Patricia Appiagyei; and Advisor on Gender and Social Protection to the flagbearer, Akosua Manu.
