IFC Commends Ghana’s Economic Progress

The Managing Director of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Makhtar Diop, has commended Ghana’s economic progress, particularly the reduction in inflation.

He made the commendation when he paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, at the Ministry of Finance.

The meeting focused on Ghana’s next phase of economic transformation, with discussions centred on developing commercial agriculture, value addition and job creation.

In a Facebook post after the meeting, Dr Forson said he told the IFC boss that the government’s priority going forward is to scale up commercial agriculture, add value to local produce and create more jobs for Ghanaians.

“A while ago, I welcomed Makhtar Diop, Managing Director of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), to the ministry. He commended Ghana’s economic progress, especially the reduction in inflation. I made it clear that our next steps include developing commercial agriculture, adding value to what we produce and creating more jobs,” the Finance Minister wrote.

The engagement forms part of ongoing efforts by the government to deepen partnerships with international development finance institutions to support Ghana’s economic recovery and industrialisation agenda.
