Ghana Announces Visa-Free Entry To Maldives, Zambia, Antigua and Barbuda

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that Ghanaian passport holders can now travel to three countries following the ratification by Parliament and the entry into force of visa waiver agreements between Ghana and the three countries.

The countries include the Republic of Maldives, Zambia and Antigua and Barbuda, without obtaining an entry visa.

According to a public announcement issued on 8th September, 2026, the arrangement applies to holders of Ordinary, Service and Diplomatic passports.

Eligible Ghanaians are permitted to stay for up to 30 days in the Maldives, 30 days in Zambia and 90 days in Antigua and Barbuda, subject to the terms and conditions of the respective agreements.

The Ministry advised travellers that visa-free entry does not exempt them from complying with the immigration and entry requirements of the destination countries.

It noted that Ghanaian passport holders are required to travel with a valid passport and any other documents that may be required by the relevant authorities and must not exceed the stipulated period of stay under the applicable visa waiver arrangement.

It further stated that travellers intending to undertake employment, study, residence, or any other activity for which a permit or specific authorisation is required must obtain the appropriate approval from the relevant authorities.

The Ministry also encouraged travellers to confirm, prior to travel, the current entry, health and other applicable requirements with the relevant authorities or the nearest Embassy or High Commission of the destination country, as such requirements may be subject to change.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating the movement of Ghanaian citizens and strengthening Ghana’s bilateral relations with partner countries.
