Ibrahim Mahama Donated GH¢16 Million for Evacuation- Ablakwa

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP), has disclosed that Ibrahim Mahama of Engineers and Planners has donated GH¢16 million towards the evacuation of Ghanaians caught up in conflict abroad.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the donation formed a significant part of the funding for the evacuation exercise, which cost a total of GH¢49.72 million.

The Ministry said the Government of Ghana contributed GH¢33.72 million towards the exercise, while Engineers and Planners provided GH¢16 million.

In infographics shared by the Minister, the Government commended Engineers and Planners for its extraordinary commitment to the welfare of Ghanaians.

Providing a breakdown of the evacuation expenditure, the Ministry said GH¢38.84 million was spent on chartered flights, tickets, ground transportation, feeding, accommodation and medical care.

An amount of GH¢10.80 million was spent on reintegration and transportation allowances for evacuees, while GH¢84,274 was spent on the repatriation of two mortal remains.

Each evacuee received a GH¢5,000 reintegration grant and GH¢500 travel and transport allowance, with a total of GH¢10.802 million allocated to reintegration and transportation allowances for returning Ghanaians.
