Over 13,000 Litres of Diesel Spill at Odumase Afrancho After Benz Tanker Overturns

About 13,500 litres of diesel spilt at Odumase Afrancho near Liberty Fuel Station off Trede Road on Friday after a Benz bulk tanker fell on its side.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the incident was reported at 16:20hrs on August 8, 2026.

The truck with registration number AS 8307-Z, owned by Mr Denis Konsah and driven by Mr Awudu Ryazan, overturned due to a steering lock.

The GNFS said multiple dents on the bulk tank caused the spillage.

Personnel from the BOST Fire Post, led by LFM Tuffour Kwakye Eugene, responded with appliance DPT FS 730 and arrived at the scene at 17:02hrs.

The fire crew said it tactically controlled the situation and washed away the spillage using foam to prevent fire and environmental hazards.

The GNFS confirmed that no casualties were recorded and no salvage was effected. The team returned to base at 21:59hrs.
