2025 SONA: I Fixed Dumsor- Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has stated that his previous government resolved the erratic power crisis in Ghana.

Delivering the State of the Nation Address (SONA) on February 27, 2026, he recalled how he promised to fix the crisis that had become an albatross on necks, particularly for the business sector.

“Yesterday February 26, 2025, marked exactly ten years since I stood in this chamber at this very spot to declare my intention to resolve ‘dumsor’, a legacy problem of power shortages.”

He noted that the promise was duly fulfilled as the country had transitioned from load-shedding by the time he was leaving office for the Akufo-Addo administration to take over.

“Mr Speaker, I fixed it. Yes, I promised to fix it and I did. I wish to place firmly on record that from January 2016 until I handed over the administration of this country on January 7, 2017, there was no power rationing or laid management in Ghana.”

While the immediate past government claims credit for fixing the power crisis, some Ghanaians believe the problem persists.
