2025 AFCONQ: Burundi Referees to Officiate Ghana-Angola Clash

Four Burundi referees have been mandated to officiate Ghana’s crucial game against Angola in the return leg of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

Thirty-six-year-old Georges Gatogato will be the Centre referee in the crucial clash slated for November 15, 2024, at the Estadio 11 de Novembro in Luanda.

He brings his 17-year experience in match officiating to the table, having superintended over CAF competitions, including the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, CAF Champions League, and CAF Confederation Cup.

His outstanding performance led to his selection for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

Gatogato will be assisted by Rénovat Bizumuremyi, Assistant Referee I, Olivier Nibogora, Assistant Referee II, and Rodrigue Bigirimana, Fourth Official.

Other CAF officials to supervise the game include Mozambican Gervasio Domingos Juliao de Jesus Maria as the Match Commissioner, South African Referee Assessor Victor Miguel de Freitas Gomes and Angolan Broadcast Venue Manager Alberto Santana Sessa.

The game will be held at 20:00 hours.

After Ghana’s draw and defeat to Sudan in the last qualifier game, the Black Stars are placed third in Group F with two points.

They are behind leaders Angola (who hold 12 points) and then seven-point-wielding Sudan. Meanwhile, Niger sit in the base with a point they got from facing Black Stars. They now have a slim chance of qualifying for the Nations Cup.
