2024 Olympics: Rose Yeboah Misses Out on High Jump Final
Ghana’s female high jump representative in the ongoing 2024 Olympics Games in Paris, Rose Yeboah has failed to qualify for the finals.
During the country’s historic high jump contest in competition held on August 2, 2024, the 22-year-old honourably cleared the bar 1.83m and 1.88m on her second and third attempts respectively.
However, the African Champion failed at the third attempt to clear the bar at 1.92m which would have advanced her to the finals.
This also means that the University of Ghana alumnus will not be among the top 12 performers in the event.
Rose (1.97) was housed in Group A of the women’s high jump where she competed with the likes of highly ranked Ukranian Yaroslava Mahuchikh (2.10), Australian Nicola Olyslager (2.03), USA Rachel Glenn (2.00), Jamaican Distin Lamara (2.00) and Serbian Angela Topic (1.98).
Her exit is another blow to Ghana, as the country was hoping for a gold medal.
Three days ago, Ghana’s representative in the 2024 Men’s Olympics 100m freestyle, Harry Stacey, also dropped off after finishing Heat 4 under 51.12 seconds.
After the game, he admitted that his output fell below his best.
“I am not too mad at the performance, but it wasn’t my best,” he relayed after his contest and added that he was up to train harder for the next Olympics.
