2024 JHS Graduates to Report to SHS in September
The 2024 batch of graduates from the Junior High School (JHS) will begin academic activities in their respectively placed Senior High Schools (SHS) at the end of September 2024.
This will be two months after sitting for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The news was contained in a letter issued by the Ghana Education Service (GES) to all Regional Directors of Education and heads of Senior High / Senior High Technical Schools on July 15, 2024.
The re-opening date for 1st year students of the 2024/2025 academic year will be on Friday, September 27, 2024.
Meanwhile, they will vacate on Friday, December 6, 2024.
“Kindly note that all other activities, programmes and arrangements for the semester remain unchanged,” a part of the statement noted.
The scripts of candidates are yet to be marked plus processes in the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) are yet to be initiated, therefore casting doubt on the feasibility of re-opening date.
Data from the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) suggested that a total of 569,095 candidates made up of 282,648 males and 286,447 females from 19,506 participating schools registered for the School examination.
Meanwhile, 1,366 candidates comprising 735 males and 631 females registered as Private Candidates.
