Joseph Paintsil Explains Reason For Friendlies Miss out

LA Galaxy winger Joseph Paintsil will miss out on Ghana’s international friendly games against Nigeria and Uganda during the international break due to immigration documentation procedures, he has explained.

Coach Otto Addo named his 26-man squad for the games on Sunday midnight which had the player who impressed with his dedication and commitment in Ghana’s campaign in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Cote d’Ivoire.

In a social media post, he said he is unable to travel out of the US following his recent move from Belgian Pro League side K.R.C. Genk to LA Galaxy due to his immigration documentation procedures.

“For this reason, I am unable to join the squad for the upcoming friendly games. I have duly communicated the reasons for my absence from the national team to management.”

He continued, “I wish the new head coach Otto Addo, my colleagues and the entire team the best in this upcoming hurdle. Ghana holds a special place in my heart, and I am always ready to defend and represent the country.”

 

26-Man Squad
Otto’s squad includes Captain Andre Ayew, forward Jordan Ayew, midfielder Mohammed Kudus, Osman Bukari, Samed Abdul Samed, and Elisha Owusu.

It also witnesses the return of Tariq Lamptey, Patrick Kpozo, winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, and midfielder Edmund Addo.

Meanwhile, David Akologo, Ibrahim Osman, Nathaniel Adjei, and Diomande Mohammed Kotoko’s Frederick Asare have earned their maiden call-up to the national team.

The friendly games scheduled for Marrakech, Morocco mark the beginning of the new era under Otto Addo.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Richard Ofori was excluded.
