2 Fire Fighters in Critical Condition after an Accident Involving their Tender
Two firefighters are fighting for their lives after their fire tender from the Kade Fire Station (FS 438) got into an accident while on its way in response to an emergency call.
They were among seven officers who sustained injuries in the accident and were hospitalized.
The accident occurred around 9 am on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at Otwenkwanta, on the outskirts of Kade in the Eastern Region.
“Seven (7) crew members were injured in the accident. Five (5) remain at Akwatia St. Dominic’s Hospital, while two (2) are in critical condition at the Kade Government Hospital. Fortunately, one (I) crew member escaped unhurt,” a statement issued by the Ghana National Fire Service confirmed.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation, the Service said.
It further stated, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured firefighters and their families. We commend their bravery and wish them a speedy recovery.
“The GNFS remains committed to serving the public and also ensuring the safety and well-being of its personnel.”
