$2.5 Million Worth Crude Condensate Reportedly Missing From TOR
The Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) is engrossed in crude condensate theft, the Minister for Energy, Matthew Opoku Prempeh has revealed.
According to him, condensate amounting to $2.5 million has gone missing from the oil refinery.
“I gave TOR a new business opportunity in the premix fuel market that all the condensate from Ghana Gas should be used for blending premix fuel. The last time I heard, Over 2.5 million dollars worth of condensate had gone missing from TOR.”
He added, “TOR has over $500 million worth of debt sitting on its books and go and look at how the debt is accumulated– people bring their crude to refine and then they record crude losses.”
This was in reaction to demands to revive the refinery by its staff.
On Tuesday, the staff held a press conference to demand a revival of the Refinery and threatened to embark on an industrial action.
The Minister assured that the government was working tirelessly to make the refinery active.
