12 Arrested Robbery Suspects- 3 Allegedly Linked to Asawase Kusasi Chief Murder, 2 Others Killed

The Ashanti Regional Police Command, in a series of intelligence-led operations, has arrested 12 suspects connected to various robberies in the region, with three of them said to be linked to the murder of a Kusasi Chief at Asawase, Kumasi.

The operation leading to their arrest resulted in the shooting to death of two others, identified as Illiasu Bawa and David Aheto.

The 12 suspects include Abdalah Alhassan, Jemini Usman (Babamu), Aminu Iddrisu (0244), Illiasu Dauda, Majeed Issaka Jibril, Gafaru Ibrahim, Mohammed Mumuni alias Mama, Tanko Malik alias Bronze, Mohammed Bawa alias Mallam, Dramani Musah, Suleman Yasir Arafat alias Obasanjo, and Ashaidu Sumbieda alias Eyeshadow.

Jamil Usman alias Babamu alias Guru, Suleman Yasir Arafat alias Obasanjo, and Ashaidu Sumbieda alias Eyeshadow have been linked to the murder of the Kusasi Chief at Asawase, Kumasi.

It noted that efforts are underway to arrest and prosecute one other suspect, Illiasu alias Abodam, who is at large.

In a statement, the police said that a Toyota Corolla vehicle with registration number GC439-21, believed to have been used by the suspects, has been retrieved.

Other exhibits recovered during the operation include the following:
* Two (2) AK-47 assault rifles
* One (1) pump-action gun
* Two (2) pistols
* Forty-four (44) rounds of .32 ammunition,
* Twenty-four (24) rounds of 9mm ammunition
