11 Players Partake in First Black Stars Training Session
Eleven players were physically present when the Black Stars convened at the Accra Sports Stadium to train for the first time ahead of their crucial game against Sudan in the Africa Cup of Nations tournament on Monday, October 7, 2024.
They included Jordan Ayew, Mohammed Kudus, Joseph Wollacott, Elisha Owusu, Mohammed Salisu, Frederick Asare, Isaac Afful, Antoine Semenyo, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Gideon Mensah, and Brandon Thomas-Asante.
So far four of the initially called 25 players have served notice of their unavailability due to injuries, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced.
They include Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey, La Galaxy right winger Joseph Paintsil, on-loan Eredivisie player Ibrahim Osman and Samsunspor forward Kingsley Schindler.
They are being replaced by Michael Baidoo, Abu Francis, Jonas Adjetey and Ibrahim Sadick. They have been since handed late call-ups.
In all, the Black Stars will have three training sessions before the crucial match on Thursday, October 10.
The players will have their second training session today, October 8 behind closed doors at 4:30 pm with their last training session scheduled for October 9 at a yet-to-be-decided time.
The first leg of the qualifier will be hosted by the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday, October 10, 2024, while the return leg will be held in Libya on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.
Ghana are currently third in Group F with just one point from a loss and a draw creating uncertainty around their qualification for the tournament.
The Black Stars lost their opening qualifier by 1-0 to Angola at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium and drew 1-1 against Niger in their second game.
