10th Anniversary of Old Tafo Methodist Model JHS Launched

The Old-Tafo Methodist Model Junior High School has officially launched its 10th Anniversary celebration at the Old Tafo Methodist Church Auditorium.

The Celebration, which is themed ‘A Decade of Educational Excellence, Achievements, Challenges, and Prospects: The Role of Stakeholders in Basic Education,’ was launched on Thursday, 18th January 2024. It is anticipated to commence on 26th February to 1st March 2024, with several activities planned by the organizing committee to make the anniversary a colourful event.

Speaking with Opemsuo News Reporter Kwaku Wusu Aduomi, the Headmistress of the Kumasi Wesley Girls Senior High School, Mrs. Love Amankwaah Baffour Awuah, who chaired the occasion, touched on how far and excellently Old Tafo Methodist Model JHS has transformed in a decade.

According to her, based on the theme of the anniversary event, every individual has a vital role to play concerning our basic education.

Mrs. Love Amankwaah divulged that currently, the role of quality education does not hinge solely on the government but is rather a collective responsibility through parents, teachers, organizations, NGOs, students, and many others.

“If our wards can achieve their dreams to serve Ghana through quality education, then there should be collective efforts from the whole community. The government is doing its best, teachers in collaboration, but I am urging all and sundry, both old students and the entire community, to support our education system,” she stressed.

On his part, the Deputy Director of Planning and Statistics for Old Tafo Municipal education, Mr. Kofi Appiah Kubi, who represented the Old Tafo Municipal Education Director, applauded Old Tafo Methodist Model JHS for their stunning performance over a decade.

Mr. Kofi Appiah disclosed that, in their 10 years as a model school, there has been excellent performance in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), which the school can boast of.

“Counting among the best three schools in Old Tafo, Methodist Model School is one of them. Through the determination of their teachers, the school has been elevated, which I am urging all other schools under Old Tafo Municipality to learn from them,” he added.

Finally, the headteacher of Old Tafo Methodist Model JHS, Mr. Asumadu Frimpong, expressed gratitude for how far the school has come in terms of their examination results.

He said, through the help of their competent teachers, education directorates, and students, Methodist Model JHS has become one of the best schools in the municipality.

He urged that, although the school is doing its part in terms of teaching and learning, there are also challenges the school is facing.

On that note, the 10th anniversary is organized to help solicit funds for the construction of ultramodern classroom blocks to improve quality education.

“We are appealing to everyone, individuals, NGOs, Religious Bodies, and many others to help us achieve our aim during the climaxing period,” he said.
