You Can’t Do Nursing Without Passion –Asantehene

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has urged nurses and midwives not to exclude love and passion in the discharge of their duties.

He says the health sector is in a way that can’t be successful without a passion-driven urge.

“You can’t deliver in the nursing field without the passion for the job. Those with commitment and dedication survive in the field. It got to a time when people wanting admission into the university diverted to the Nursing and Teaching Colleges and all those people took the step without love and dedication. The sick are vulnerable and you’ve been tasked with their health even those who are unable to manage themselves and it all depends on commitment and love”.

“After the doctor’s round and consultations, you’re in charge of the folder and everything. Individual’s recovery depends on you which means you’re important to Ghana. You’re the only ones able to realise and correct the mistakes of the medical doctors so stand united and work for the betterment of the country, the King added.”

The Nursing Officers and Midwives led by the Director of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, and the Director of Nursing and Midwifery, Barnabas Kwame Yeboah were at the Manhyia Palace to pay a courtesy call on the king as they embarked on the National Nursing Conference in the region.
