Women Are Vulnerable To HIV Infections – Madam Olivia Graham

The Ashanti Regional AIDS Technical Coordinator, Madam Olivia Graham has noted that women do contract HIV easily.
Women are more vulnerable than men due to the nature of the sexual organ.
Notwithstanding that men too contract it.
Speaking in an interview on Opemsuo radio’s morning show Nkwantananso on Thursday, October 7, 2021, she stated that 80% of people infected with HIV are through unprotected sex.
15% also are infected through motherhood and 5% is by accident.
The majority of people have multiple sexual partners and it contributes to the increasing rate of HIV infections.
According to the Technical Coordinator, HIV is mostly contracted in stable relationships and then it takes 2 years for HIV to develop into AIDS.
She encouraged the use of condoms as a form of protection during sexual intercourse and advised that one should have a single-sex partner.
“Abstaining is the ultimate solution”, she added.
