We’ve not Commissioned Anyone to Assist Pensioners Claim Benefits- SSNIT
The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has discouraged pensioners from paying money to unidentified persons for the release of “locked up” claims, noting it has not sanctioned any individual or body to undertake such causes.
“It has come to the attention of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) that some unidentified persons are calling pensioners under the guise of assisting them to claim ‘locked up’ balance of their pension’ at a fee,” it said in a notice.
It warned the public to be wary of such unscrupulous persons and their messages as there is no ‘locked up’ balance to be collected as peddled.
It also highlighted the processing of SSNIT benefits is at no cost.
“The Trust has NOT engaged or commissioned any individual or body to assist pensioners to claim any benefit from SSNIT. The public is hereby cautioned not to engage any individual or body purporting to act on behalf of the Trust in this regard.”
Meanwhile, the public has been urged to report such persons to the nearest Police Station or any SSNIT office.
