We Do Not Have Any Issue Of Land-guard In The Asante Kingdom- Otumfuo
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has pointed out that there are no land-guard issues in the Asante Kingdom which makes them one of the lucky ones.
According to him, when it comes to land ownership and its related issues; there are guided regulations to it which leads the leadership in apportioning lands in the Ashanti region.
“We are lucky in Asanteman, we have carefully structured regulations which involve no inconsistencies unless greediness on the side of some few individuals will make them sell out lands illegally other than that there is no such thing as land guards.”
Otumfuo mentioned that families do not give out land documents; the chiefs are responsible for providing documents on land.
“no family whether Mampong, Nsuta owns lands. “We don’t sack the families from the land but there are regulations that guide chiefs on taking care of a situation where the land is needed for a project…”
“it’s the responsibility of the chief and the stool to ensure that the required documentation is given in case of land apportioning,” he said.
Otumfuo, who is the president of the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs, said this during the general meeting of the house.
A presentation on the New Land Act 2020, Act 1036 was given by His Lordship Sir Dominic Agyei, Justice of Court of Appeal.
The meeting which took place at the Regional House of Chiefs also saw the induction of three new members: Kuntenasehene, Nana Amankwaah Adunan, Asamanghene, Okogyeasuo Adu Gyamfi and Akwamuhene/Asafohene, Akyamfuo Asafo Boakye Agyemang.
A Justice of the Court of Appeal, His Lordship Sir Dominic Agyei, in his presentation elaborated on about 12 revised acts on land into a single law.
