We Are Happy To See Asantehene In Anloga – Anlo Residents Expresses Joy

The people of Anlo have expressed their profound joy to the Asantehene and Asanteman for gracing the 2022 Hogbetsotso Festival.

The residents also couldn’t hide their excitement for seeing the Asantehene for the first time, and described the event as “historical and archival”.

“This is the first time I am seeing the Otumfuo Osei Tutu since I was born. I always see him on television and I thought it was impossible to see him in reality but today I have seen the Otumfuo and I am happy”, a statement from Solace Ewoenam, a JHS pupil of Anlo D/A Basic School.

Another resident by the name of Prince Denu Ekpedzo couldn’t hide his feelings after seeing him riding a palanquin, and described it as a dream come true.

“When I saw Otumfuo, I thought I was dreaming. When he didn’t come here in 2019 I didn’t believe his coming today. This is like a dream come true”.

Fafali, a tilapia seller described Otumfuo as a “Noble King”. ” To me, the Asantehene is a noble king for gracing our festival for us. This is historical and archival. I wish him ‘weizor lo’ to the Volta Region”.

The elaborate traditional arrangement saw the grand entry of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, with a colourful royal procession interspersed with intermittent gun salutes.

The glamour with which the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and his entourage stormed the durbar grounds, was a sight to behold as brought excitement to the residents of Anloga who had waited impatiently for his arrival.

The procession went along with everyone wanting to have a piece of His Royal Majesty on his camera.

The Awoamefia of Anlo State, Torgbui Sri III, expressed his appreciation to the Asante Monarch and described the king’s move as “special” in the history of the festival.

“Today’s anniversary is a special one. Because this is the first time a reigning Asantehene visited any state in the Volta Region, and he wants to show his appreciation for the willingness of the Asantehene to be among us”.

The Hogbetsotso Festival is celebrated by the chiefs and people of Anlo in the Volta Region of Ghana.

The celebration of the festival was instituted about four decades ago. It is celebrated to portray the escapement of the Anlo people from their wicked king, King Agorkoli in Notsie.

Nii Ayi Tetey, a member of the Ga-Mantse delegation team described Asantehene’s move as a “beautiful display of cross-culture for seeing Otumfuo shook hands with Ga-Mantse”.
