Wanderlust Ghana Set for another Adventurous Road Trip
Wanderlust Ghana, the group of tourism enthusiasts who covered 100,000 kilometres in a road trip from Ghana to the United Kingdom (UK) last year say they have another road trip to cover this year.
The group of 12 including one woman anticipates that this trip will transcend what they did between July and August 2023 which won them worldwide recognition and admiration.
In an interview with Opemsuo Radio’s George Addo, a member of the group said the adventure which will take place within the country is driven towards promoting tourism.
“We’re going to have another drive so watch out for us. It will exceed what you saw the previous time. It will be massive and the whole aim is to promote Ghana. On this next drive, we aim to promote visits to Ghana. We will create awareness about places people didn’t know existed in the country,” Kwadwo Saka Addo Mensah, a member of the Group said in an exclusive interview on the sidelines of their visit to the Manhyia Palace Museum on July 24, 2024.
He, however, didn’t provide details about the date and places that would be covered under the justification of security reasons. That notwithstanding he said the needed preparations have been undertaken.
“Places to be visited won’t be announced now due to obvious security reasons.”
They also intend to use four out of the five cars they used during the trip to London noting the other one “has some challenges” and would be replaced.
He added, “Our aim now is to promote Ghana for the world to come here.”
London Trip
The group embarked on a remarkable journey from Accra to London, covering 10,000 kilometres by land to raise awareness about the digital literacy gap in Ghana and Africa and raise about $17,000 in support of that.
They started the expedition of driving from one continent to the other from Accra on Sunday, July 23, 2023, and ended their journey in London by Sunday, August 6.
They used five different Ghanaian registered vehicles including a Mercedez Benz G-Wagon, two Toyota Landcruisers (V8), a Lexus RX 350 and a Ford F150, Raptor.
