Volta NDC to hold vigil in honour of late President Rawlings

The Volta Regional branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is expected to hold a vigil to commemorate the first anniversary of the late former president of Ghana, Jerry John Rawlings.

The two-day programme will commence today, November 11 to Friday, November 12, 2021, sparkling with a candlelight procession through the principal streets of Keta, in the Volta Region where the former president’s mother hails from.

The NDC will thereafter join the Anlo Traditional Council’s durbar of chiefs to climax the one-year celebration of Former President Rawlings tomorrow Friday at Hogbe Park in Anloga.

The late Jerry John Rawlings was a Ghanaian President, a military officer, and politician who led the country from 1981 to 2001 and also for a brief period in 1979. He led a military junta until 1992, and then served two terms as the democratically elected President of Ghana. He became one of Ghana’s outspoken former heads of state until his demise on 12th November 2020.
