Thanks For Your Guidance to the World Bank; Reg Vice President to Asantehene

The World Bank’s Vice President for Western and Central Africa, His Excellency Ousmane Diagana has expressed the international financial institution’s heartfelt gratitude to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, for his guidance.

The leadership of the Bank is among the uncountable institutions to benefit from the invaluable wisdom and guidance of the King.

His Majety’s guidance, he indicated, is not lightly esteemed. He therefore expressed gratitude to the King.

“We could not be in Accra without asking to be here in Kumasi… Thank you for your leadership and guidance you continue to provide to the World Bank.”

Reflecting on the relations, Otumfuo described his relationship with the Bank as “interesting” and said he looked forward to broadening it.

“It’s been an interesting relationship with the World Bank. I believe your visit will continue for us to share ideas and find ways to resolve our problems economically and social interventions.”

HE Diagana visited the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on January 10, 2024, to discuss issues relating to the delayed Kumasi Urban Mobility and Accessibility Project (KUMAP).

Accompanying the Vice President for the meeting held at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on January 10, 2025, were Robert Taliercio, Country Director, Michelle Keane, Operations Manager, Madhu Raghunath, Practice Manager, Urban Development, Resilience and Land, Dhruva Sahai, Senior Energy Specialist/Program Leader and Akua Pokuaa Timpabi, Transport Specialist.

The team was led by key officials from the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council including the Chief Director, Michael Owusu Amoako, the Regional Economic Planning Officer, Beatrice Kwarteng and the Regional Director, DUR, Francis Gambrah.

HE Diagana is in Ghana to partake in the inauguration ceremony of President John Dramani Mahama.
