Tension Blows At Barekese As Youth Protest Against Chief, Pelt At Him, Call For His Destoolment

Youth of Barekese in the Ashanti region over the weekend have protested against their Chief, Nana Amoapem Brenya II, calling for his destoolment as chief of the town.

The youth were seen pelting sachet water, stones and casting spells on the chief.

The aggrieved youth are raising allegations that the Chief since he took over as the traditional leader for three years now has not added up to the development of the community.

“The state of affairs at Barekese under the leadership of Nana Brenya II is totally an eyesore owing to the fact that the Chief is only concerned about the welfare of his nuclear family”, the enraged youth disclosed.

Challenges include forcibly taking family lands and lack of social amenities in the community under the watch of his leadership.

All uncompleted projects initiated by the former Chief Nana Akwawie they fingered have been neglected by the current Chief.

Speaking to Opemsuo reporter, the spokesperson for aggrieved youth Akwasi Arhin Amankwatia expressed that Nana Amoapem Brenya is not a true reflection of the choice of the gods and indigenes.

He, therefore, called on Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to offer them a new Chief for the area.
