Stop Building in Erosion-Prone Areas – Assembly Member
The Assembly Member for Duase Electoral Area in the Kumasi Metropolis, Hon. Prince Osei, has issued a crucial advisory to the public, urging them to refrain from constructing buildings in areas prone to erosion.
This advice comes as part of a concerted effort to mitigate the devastating effects of flooding during and after heavy rainfall.
In an interview with Opemsuo Radio’s Kwame Adu Gyamfi Kumanin, he emphasised that it is imperative to avoid obstructing the natural flow of rivers, particularly in erosion-prone zones.
Recognizing the inherent risks associated with building in such areas, he stressed the importance of taking preventive measures to protect lives and properties.
“I also appeal to the city authorities to take necessary action by demolishing structures and buildings situated in high-risk erosion areas.”
“By doing so, we can ensure the safety and well-being of the public and minimise the impact of flooding incidents,” he added.
