Stan Dogbe Clashes With Gabby Otchere-Darko On Twitter

Former Mahama Presidential Staffer, Stanislav Xoese Dogbe and leading member of the New Patriotic Party, Gabby Otchere –Darko have clashed over Nana Akufo-Addo’s recent seven-day trip to Germany at the invitation of the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel.
This comes after Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa alleged for the second time that President Akufo-Addo hired another luxurious aircraft for his seven—day tour which cost £14,000 after the first sparked much controversy in the country.
“If our government is dealing directly with the operators of the LX-DIO then it is costing the Ghanaian taxpayer at least US$14,000 per hour. However, if our government is leasing the aircraft via brokers or middlemen as it has gained notoriety for in many sectors, you shouldn’t be surprised the Ghanaian taxpayer is being billed between US$18,000 and US$22,000 per hour.
“Using the conservative rate of US$14,000 per hour, the two trips to the UK and Germany which requires some 28 hours of travel distance in and out plus an additional 13 hours of pick up and drop off time, the taxpayer has been burdened again to the colossal tune of US$574,000.00. At the current exchange rate, that is a staggering 3.46million Ghana Cedis”, Hon Ablakwa posted on Facebook on Tuesday.”
Reacting, Gabby Otchere in a tweet said people should focus on the gains that came with the trip than the cost of the flight.
“Ghana’s President travelled to Germany for a week and returned with 1.5 million vaccines, among other investor-related items. But, of course, the focus of those who seasonally choose to know the cost of everything but the value of little, is on the cost of the flight chartered!” Gabby tweeted.
Dogbe hit back at him with series of questions insinuating the vaccines were going to come anyway.
“Are you trying to claim, disingenuously, that it is the President’s trip that gifted Ghana the vaccines? What about the many other countries that will receive same without going there? And please ooo, was this gift/ dash not a German general decision before Nana got there? And it that a needed justification for the use of a luxurious and outrageously expensive executive jet?” he tweeted.
The Director for Communication at the presidency, Eugene Arhin had announced that the President has dispatched a plane to take delivery of the 1.5million doses of AstraZeneca vaccines Germany had gifted Ghana.
