SP Dissatisfied With 2022 Budget Allocation To His Office
The Special Prosecutor (SP), Mr. Kissi Agyebeng has said he is discontent with the GHS 170,504,000 the government had allotted to it in the 2022 budget statement.
According to the country’s second SP, the money is insufficient for the vast expenses of the office.
“To this, we need the resources to put things in place. Various divisions ought to be established on the ground; Finance, administration, operations, investigations, prosecutions, strategy, communication, all these have to be instituted. Without money, we can’t do it.”
With the allocation, he said the work of the OSP will be confined to just writing letters.
“With that money, we can’t do anything. We will be reduced to writing long letters without force.”
He made the submissions while commemorating the International Anti-Corruption Day today.
“It doesn’t match up to my expectations”, he said but then, gave the assurance that, “I cannot give up. I will continue pushing the envelope. I will keep asking and I will keep pushing so that we can get what we require to establish and operationalize this office.”
He recalled that he inherited an office that had 0% operationalization.
The former, SP, Mr. Martin Amidu, while resigning from the position, among his numerous reasons added that his office wasn’t equipped with the needed resources to undertake his work.
