South African EFF Party: “We Don’t Mourn Elizabeth”

South African political party Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), unlike others, is not mourning Queen Elizabeth II on her passing.

According to the party, the seventy years reign of the queen was characterised by a “brutal legacy of dehumanisation of millions of people across the world”.

“We do not mourn the death of Elisabeth, because to us her death is a reminder of every tragic period in this country and Africa’s history.

It asserted that South Africa parted ways with peace when Britain took over permanently in 1806 and has since not benefited from the rich resources it possesses.

According to them the riches of the land “was and are still utilised for the enrichment of the British royal family and those who look like them”.

It cited interactions with the British which it said, have birthed “pain, dispossession and dehumanisation of African people and made reference to British colonial rule over Zimbabwe, Zambia, Kenya and India.

It also touched on slavery.

EPP noted that “Elizabeth during her lifetime never acknowledged these crimes that Britain and her family in particular perpetrated across the world. In fact she was a proud flag bearer of these atrocities during her reign.”

According to them, the queen enjoyed the wealth that was attained from the exploitation and murder of millions of people across the world throughout her lifetime without acknowledgement.

It concluded, “If there is really life after death and justice, may Elizabeth and her ancestors get what they deserve”.
