Some Ghana Post Workers Laid Off – Sam George

The Minister for Communication and Digital Technology and Innovation, Sam George, has confirmed the termination of the appointment of some staff working for agencies under the Ministry.
Currently, he said, workers who were employed at the Ghana Post after the December elections are being laid off.
“The rationalisation continues. Today I have authorised the termination of a few more from Ghana Post that were done post-December 7. We will continue this rationalization.”
Addressing concerns raised over the exercise at a presser in Parliament on Tuesday, he decried the recruitment of workers by the former government after December 7.
According to him, the termination is aimed at sanitizing the Ministry.
“People have raised questions about the staff rationalisation ongoing at the Ministry. If you are a Minister and you take over a Ministry that has 3,117 staff in the Ministry and its agencies, and you realise that almost 600 of them were recruited after December 7, basically you don’t expect me to come and inherit such a mess and continue with it.”
He said he intends to run a lean and efficient Ministry after the exercise.
