Senior High School (SHS) teachers or staff living in either school or government bungalows have been informed that they will pay ten per cent of their basic salaries as rent.
This is effective March 1, 2022, according to a letter from the Ghana Education Service (GES), dated March 11, 2022 and signed by the Western Regional Director of Education, Felicia Agyeibea Okai.
The letter is addressed to all metro, Municipal, district directors of education and all heads of SHSs.
The directive, according to the GES is in line with efforts to streamline the anomalies with regards to the payment of Rent for occupying school or government bungalows.
It referenced the Finance Ministry’s circular of May 15, 2006, which indicated that occupants of government bungalows are to pay 10% of their basic salaries as rent.
