Richard Jakpa’s Revelation Confirms A-G’s Lack of Integrity- NDC

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) says the disclosure made by third accused person in the “Ato Forson Ambulance” trial affirms the serious level of deficiency of integrity on the part of the country’s Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame.

A statement signed by the National Chairman of the country’s largest opposition party, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, said they were “scandalized” by the revelation in court on Thursday.

“The NDC is deeply scandalised by this clear case of persecution against the Leader of the party’s Caucus in Parliament who has been at the forefront of our struggle against the misrule of the oppressive and despotic Akufo-Addo/Bawumia NPP regime.”

According to the National Chairman, the development proves the A-G’s lack of integrity and quest to “manipulate judicial processes to unjustly victimise political opponents for cheap political goal-scoring”.

“This revelation goes to confirm legitimate and long-held suspicion of the devious modus operandi of Godfred Dame and the government he represents.

“It also confirms the lack of integrity of the dishonourable Attorney-General and the extent to which he goes to pervert the course of justice.”

Meanwhile the party has plans to hold a press conference to put out what is says are incontrovertible evidence about the trial.

Background
In court on May 23 when the third accused in the ambulance trial mounted the witness box to defend himself against the charge of causing €2.37 million financial loss to the state in a deal to purchase 200 ambulances for the country between 2014 and 2016, he said the A-G has been impressing on him to implicate the first accused who is the Minority Leader, Cassiel Ato Forson.

“The A-G has on several occasions engaged me at odd hours to help him make a case against A1 and I have evidence for that…If he pushes me, I will open the Pandora’s box. I don’t understand why the A-G will accuse me of defending A1 when I’m here to defend myself. If he pushes me, I’ll open the Pandora’s box. I have evidence to all this.”

The A-G has since denied the allegations.
