Report: 3 Out 14 Charred In Asemasa Accident Identified
Only three victims in the Asemasa accident have been successfully identified by their relatives, reports say.
The identification of all 14 passengers on board the Ford commercial vehicle who burned to death upon collision into a truck, is underway at the Cape Coast Teaching hospital where they were deposited.
Families have been trooping in to identify their deceased relatives but the challenge is that identifying the bodies is almost impossible.
Concerning the Chinese national who allegedly was also on board the commercial vehicle, the Public Relations Officer of the hospital, Fred Nyankah, said the Chinese community has been directed to seek a police notice to conduct a DNA test since they also failed to pinpoint their national.
“We are told that there was a Chinese national on-board and so the Chinese community came in and they have been referred to the Regional Crime Officer who will probably instruct the Hospital to conduct a DNA”, the hospital’s PRO said.
On March 22, 2022, a Ford vehicle with registration number the GW6628-21 and a truck collided at Asemasa, a community sitting on the border of Central and the Western Regions.
The collision set the vehicles ablaze, charring all 14 passengers on board the commercial vehicle.
Speaking on Eyewitness News monitored by opemsuo.com, Chief Superintendent Isaac Kwasi Sokpa, MTTD Commander for the Western Region, said “Initial information we picked on the ground was that one of the tyres of the truck burst and as a result lost its control and veered into the lane of the Ford bus”.
The driver of the truck, however, survived, together with his mate but were reported to be in a critical condition at the hospital.
