The first runner-up in Kenya’s 2022 elections, Raila Odinga has turned down an invitation for the swearing-in ceremony of William Ruto, the President-elect.

In a statement, the secretariat of the presidential candidate said he received a letter and a subsequent phone call from Ruto, inviting him to the ceremony which will take place at the Kasarani Sports Stadium today in Kenya.

“I regret however that I will not be available for the inauguration because I am out of the country and I have serious concerns”.

His concerns, he said, are with the electoral body and the Supreme court of the country.

Odinga holds that the electoral body “did not conduct any free and fair elections” while the apex court’s ruling was not based on facts and the law.
