Greennow mobile application is being used to track trees planted along Lake Bosomtwe in the Ashanti Region.

This project follows the initiation of the Asantehene Land Restoration Project which was conceived through the collaboration between Manhyia Palace and Oheneba Poku Foundation in the year 2019.

The Asantehene Land Restoration Project began with the target of planting three million trees around the lake by way of preserving natural resources in Asanteman.

With the introduction of the Greennow mobile tracking app , trees planted are recorded and given identities.

“We made it simple for the users. You select the tree, the one who planted it and then you give a brief description about it, then you save.”

“We pick up the coordinates of this location from the device. So we mark it to the position it was planted then we fill it in.

“That means for this one recorded, it will be in our database. We have track of it…if we come back to this place and don’t find a tree, then that means someone destroyed it”, a member of the implememters of the program explained to the media.

Three hundred and fifteen thousand trees have been planted since the inception of the project
