Producer Price Inflation Climbs To 46.0%

The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) says the Producer Price Inflation (PPI) for the month of August 2022 was 46.0%.

The Mining and Quarrying sub-sector recorded 35.7 % PPI, the Manufacturing sub-sector which constitutes more than two-thirds of total industry recorded 61.7% producer inflation while the utility sub-sector recorded 1.7% PPI.

“Manufacture of coke, refined petroleum products and nuclear fuel recorded the highest inflation rate of 170.3 per cent, while the Manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. recorded the least inflation rate of 3.7 per cent”, the GSS said.

According to the Service, the manufacture of grain mill products, starches and starch products, and prepared animal feeds saw inflation of 186.1 in August 2022.

Meanwhile, the manufacture of other food products witnessed a 28.2 per cent increase in August 2022.
