Police Shot Two Robbery And Kidnapping Suspects At Yeji

Two persons have been shot dead by the Anti- Robbery Unit of the Ghana Police Service for involving in robbery and kidnapping at Yeji in the Pru East District of the Bono East Region.

On Monday, December 20, 2021, Ali Ruga alias Ali Muguyaro and Issaka Abubakar alias Kuridor were shot at Yeji as part of an intelligence-led operation against a criminal gang by the Special Anti-Robbery unit attached to the Bono East Regional Police Command

According to the Police, the two were part of a kidnapping syndicate operating in the Yeji enclave who was responsible for the kidnapping of one Boma on Saturday, December 11, 2021, and released him later on after a ransom of twenty-five thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 25, 000, 00) was paid.

A further intelligence established that the same syndicate kidnapped one Alhaji Juuli about two months ago and released him after a ransom of sixty thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 60, 000, 00) was also paid.

Also, the syndicate was involved in the robbery and murder on the Atebubu highway on December 17, 2021.

A single barrel shotgun with two live “BB” cartridges, three mobile phones, and a talisman was recovered in their hideout in Konkoba, a suburb of Yeji, according to Ghana Police Service Director of Public Affairs, ACP Kwesi Ofori.
