Police Service: We Administer Bail At All Times
The Ghana Police Service has asserted that it grants bail to all persons at times of every day.
This was in response to a publication by the Northern Regional New Patriotic Party Chairman, Adam Bantima Samba’s assertion that he will break the police’s principle that forbids bail at night.
“The attention of the police administration has been drawn to a social media publication in which the Northern Regional NPP Chairman, Adam Bantima Samba is seen claiming the effect that he will make a record by breaking police principle of not granting bail or administering bail at night”, a statement from the police service said.
It added, “We wish to state categorically that there is no such principle or rule that forbids the police or clothe the police with the authority not to grant bail at night”.
The Service, however, noted that bail is a constitutional right and therefore administered on any day including weekends and holidays and at all times.
It noted that the statement of the politician is “erroneous” and a “clear demonstration of ignorance of the law” on his part.
