Spanish Women’s Coach Sacked

In the latest turn of events in the Spain Women’s World Cup kiss row, the head coach of the Women’s team, Jorge Vilda has been sacked, reports indicate.

It comes days after the under-fire President of the Spanish Football Federation Luis Rubiales extended his contract to four years and increased his earnings to half a million euros.

Jorge Vilda who has now been sacked decided to remain at post despite the resignation of eleven members of the Spanish women’s team coaching staff late in August in expression of their condemnation of Luis Rubiales.

Rubiales kissed player Jenni Hermoso on the lip as she stepped up to receive her medal following Spain’s victory against England in the Women’s World Cup.

He came under stern public criticism following the incident with a call for his resignation, however, he defended himself saying she was kissed with consent.

Jenni, however, rebutted his statement.

The FA president has refused to step down from the post, however, he has been handed a suspension by FIFA for his conduct.
