Police Officer Arrested While Transporting “Indian Hemp”

A police officer identified as No. 45638 G/Sgt. Lotsu Agbeko has been arrested for his alleged possession and transportation of 84 parcels of compressed dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

This was announced by the Public Affairs Directorate of the Ghana Police Service in a statement dated June 14, 2022.

Per the account of the police service, the police officer now suspect, failed to stop at a police checkpoint, the Have Police barrier, when he was signalled by two officers on duty to stop.

“He was therefore given a chase and on reaching a section of the road on the Kpeve Mountain, he was involved in an accident” leading to his arrest.

The suspect, who the police say was stationed at the Formed Police Unit (FPU) in Accra, sustained a fracture in his left hand, the Ghana Police said.

He was sent to the Police Hospital where he is receiving medical attention under police guard.
