Otumfuo counsel MPs to free Parliament from partisan politics

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has advised parliamentarians against partisanship in the business of the house.

He alerted that, partisanship in parliamentary affairs does not help promotion.

“Partisanship will only attract division amongst parliamentarians and cause delay of projects”.

Before the Breakfast Meeting held in Kumasi, the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin led a commission of MP’s to the Manhyia Palace and was told by Otumfuo to enforce supervision of projects after fund approval.

“Supervisory roles being taken up by MP’s will ensure implementation of approved projects and bills”.

They were further asked to embark on thorough discussions with constituents to get their needs, opinions and ideas conveyed to parliament.

He went on to say that, MPs were voted for by their constituents, so it includes their responsibility to present the masses’ options to parliament for immediate action to be taken.

“Being an MP does not guarantee the submission of personal opinions rather the opinions of constituents”.

He emphasized that these will ensure a better parliament void of division for development in the various constituencies and Ghana as a whole.
