OSP Arrests Abena Dapaah
The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has announced the arrest of former Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaah.
This follows the alleged stolen money and other valuables at her residence by her house helps.
The OSP in a statement said she was arrested on Monday, July 24 around 11 am and noted she is being investigated for alleged corruption and corruption-related offences.
The statement added, “She is being questioned by authorized officers of the OSP.”
Mrs Dapaah dominated public discourse over the weekend when news of the alleged stolen $1 million, €300,000 and millions of cedis from her Ablekuma residence by her two house helps came into the public domain, forcing her to step down from her Ministerial position.
She asserts there are inconsistences in the reports.
“There are noticeable inconsistencies between what is being discussed in the public domain and the thrust of the original complaint on the matter” and added steps are being taken to address the propagation of the falsehood.
“I am taking steps to examine the origins of the inconsistencies and will provide a detailed response in the coming days,” Mrs Dapaah said in a press statement dated July 21, in reaction to media reports on the theft,” she said in a statement called on Saturday.
She tendered her resignation the day after.
