Opemsuo Radio At 2: Mama Joyce Wins “Adwadifuo spelling competition”

The intriguing “Adwadifuo spelling competition”, a spelling bee for some market traders at the Kumasi racecourse market was won by Joyce Agyei, a plantain seller in the market.

Four plantain traders from the market participated in the twi spelling bee.

They are Esther Agyei, Joyce Obiri, Joyce Obiri and Maame Kyekye.

They spelt twi words including Borɔdeɛ, Mukaase, Bɔɔlo, bese, ntoosi, pɛtɛ, ɛhyɛn, ɛsie, sakre, prɛkɛsɛ, ɛbɔ, odwan, ayoyo, kɔtɔkɔ, awia, adwe, bɔtɔ, bankye, abɛ, and kɛntɛn.

Monitoring the scores keenly were Opemsuo radio’s George Addo, known as Kyeremateng and Godbless Freduah Agyemang, producer for Opemsuo radio Drivetime show.

At the end of the competition, Joyce Obiri emerged as winner with fifteen points. Esther Agyei scored nine points, Kaakyire Badu had twelve points, and Maame Kyekye had six points.

They received hampers from Stanbic Bank, sponsor of Opemsuo radio’s Outdoor programme.

The Adwadifuo spelling competition was among the programme outline for the Outdoor event marking Opemsuo Radio’s second anniversary.
