Asantehene Urges Residents To Support “Heal KATH Project”

His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has encouraged residents of the Ashanti Region to donate their widow’s mite for the renovation of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

According to him, the project must not be left at the mercy of corporate bodies, institutions and the rich in society.

Speaking through his linguist at the Manhyia Palace on November 26, 2023, the occupant of the Golden Stool said, “The funds are not being solicited from the rich. The poor must contribute their quota because they usually seek the services of the facility.”

He said this when the Chief Executive Officer of the hospital, Prof Otchere Addai Mensah who led the Heal KATH Board on an appreciative visit informed the King about the impact of his decision to spearhead and launch the initiative.

“We thank the overlord for leading us to launch the project. Since then, companies have come on board to donate towards the project. The King’s move is very encouraging. We pray for his continued leadership.”

His Majesty also charged the team to publicise the payment options available for the contribution.

The revenue mobilisation drive dubbed “Heal KATH Project” was launched on November 10, 2023. It aims to address the urgent need for infrastructural improvements in Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Ghana’s second-largest teaching hospital, which receives referrals from 12 out of the 16 regions of Ghana, through the solicitation of funds.
