Okudzeto Disappointed In Finance Minister

Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency, Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has expressed his disappointment in the Finance Minister, Mr. Ken Ofori Atta, for his output before parliament on the president’s ten day trip to Europe and South Africa.
The Finance Minister was expected to account for the President’s trip to Europe and South Africa with Airbus ACJ320neo owned by Acropolis Aviation which is alleged to have cost a sum of £15,000 per hour instead of using the presidential jet.
Upon his appearance after several postponements, Mr. Ofori Atta directed the house to consult the Minister for National Security, Albert Kan Dapaa. (https://www.newportworldresorts.com/)

Honourable Ablakwa who championed the call for an account of the president’s trip said it was quite a disappointing day.
He noted that the Minister should have notified the house earlier than postpone his meetings with them.
“It was a very disappointing day, a very very embarrassing spectacle.
This is a minister who was scheduled to respond to this question on the 17th of June, it was duly advertised for the provisional order paper on the 16th of June. He then rushed to parliament the morning of the 17th of June and informed the house that he needs more time to respond to this question. He had subsequently requested for more time on a couple of occasion.
“It has been such a struggle to get him and eventually, he decided to get out of hiding and come to respond to the questions, only to tell us that we should now be looking in the direction of the National Security Minister for the cost and that he doesn’t know the cost, that these are National Security matters.
“This is a matter that has been admitted since June, at what point did the Minister for Finance realize that he didn’t have the answers when he kept requesting for more time. How could he treat parliament this way. This is not how we protect public purse. This is not how we promote good governance, transparency and accountability. This is totally wrong and contemptuous of parliament and an insult to the people of Ghana.”
He noted that he has filed for an Urgent Question to invite the National Security Minister and hoping that it will be favourable received by the Speaker.

“I have filed an urgent question for the Minister responsible for National Security to come render account expecting that the speaker will admit it”, he added on eyewitness news.
