Odike Retracts Statement Against Asantehene, Manhyia Palace

The founder of United Progressive Party (UPP), Akwasi Addai Odike has retracted his statement against Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and the Manhyia Palace.

Although he did not apologise, he showed remorse during an interview on Onua TV.

Addressing the Asantehene, Odike who had earlier taken an entrenched position against retraction said, “If my statement offended you, I withdraw”.

In an interview on Oyerepa FM in August 2022, Odike accused the Manhyia Palace of facilitating illegal mining in the Ashanti region and threatened to mobilise the youth of the kingdom to stage a demonstration against the Palace.

Following this, rituals were performed by the traditional authorities to banish him from stepping foot at the Manhyia Palace.
